The Florestar name is taken from his grand sire Florestan and his sire Five Star.
The time to see movementin a youngster is at 3 days, 3 weeks and 3 years, and at 3 weeks old Florestar's movement speaks for itself. But with names in his pedigree like Florestan, Weltmeyer, Matcho AA, Graf Grannus and Fabriano, he is certainly bred fro athleticism.
Florestran: In 2007 the Hanoverian Stallion Books recorded Florestan as having 1620 registered competition offspring with winnings of close to 1 million euro. There were 846 dressage competitors, 63 up to S level and 193 jumpers. Florestan FN index for dressage is 146 and 102 for jumping.
Weltmeyer: He is a legend. As the AHS put it, "Weltmeyer continues to almost single-handedly reshape the Hanoverian breed." He was the 1986 winner of the stallion licensing in Verden, and the 1987 winner of the stallion performance test in Adelheidsdorf. In 2005, Weltmeyer received a Breeding Value Index of 152 points, with an assurance of 99% heritability, from the German Equestrian Federation.
Matcho AA: Anglo-Arab stallion came from France, where the French Anglo-Arabian breed- not a direct cross breed between Thoroughbreds and Arabs was almost a breed on its own. After he was bought by the State Stud, he won his performance test against Hanoverian stallions.
Graf Grannus: Graf Grannus earned the coveted title of Hanoverian Stallion of the year in 2004. To date he has sired over 362 broodmares, 48 of which have been awarded the State Premium title. He has 20 licensed stallion sons, of which Ginsberg, Goodman and Graf Top are the best known. His current breeding index is 156. Graf Grannus's sire Grannus is one of the most important and prolific jumping sires of our time. His offspring have earned over 5 million euro in competition and competed in multiple Olympics. Also of note Grannus has sired 60 approved sons.
Fabriano: was the winner of his performance test with excellent scores in both dressage and jumping. He possesses rhythmical, flowing movements, which also convinced at the stallion licensing
